The European co-funded Cross-Re-Tour project is an exciting new opportunity for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism, leisure and hospitality industry that are keen on taking on green and digital innovation.
The project will involve a partnership between eight different organisations from different countries to support 80 tourism SMEs and to get solution providers to discuss any green and digital transition challenges with the same SMEs. The main areas of focus will be water, energy, plastic, food, equipment/furniture, mobility, client and staff nudging.
This three-year project will involve three stages. In the first stage, interested tourism SMEs, non-government organisations and/or public organisations will be participating in an online dialogue to discuss challenges faced in the area of green and digital transition. Additionally, their state of transformation readiness would be assessed.
In the second phase, the dialogue will be extended whereby tourism SMEs will relate to digital and green service providers to identify potential solutions. In the third phase, there will be funding for a total of 10 SMEs for the worth of €30,000 per innovative project per country.
The main goals of this online dialogue are to share challenges in sustainability and digitalization with like-minded businesses; to take first steps in identifying possible solutions; to generate new input, new ideas and building up your network within and outside the tourism sector; and last but not least, to define the priorities of the funding programme.
To take part in the online dialogue, SMEs are invited to go to register online. Once registered, please click on the Maltese flag on the link to get to the online-dialogue page. Start exploring the page, introduce yourself, tell us about your challenges and get in touch with others!
The Malta Tourism Authority is one of the partners in this project.
The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) was formally set up by the Malta Travel and Tourism Service Act (1999). This clearly defines its role - extending it beyond that of international marketing to include a domestic, motivating, directional, co-ordinating and regulatory role. The Act strengthens the public and private partnership in tourism through greater and more direct participation by the private sector in national planning and development of the industry.
