Malta is preparing to welcome more than 200 of
the world's leading tourism industry figures, spanning
hospitality, aviation, cruise, travel technology and
destination investment, for the 26th edition of the
World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit,
which will take place at the Mediterranean Conference
Centre in Valletta from 7 to 9 October 2026.

The WTTC is a global body that represents
the private sector of Travel & Tourism
and the leading authority on the sector's
economic and social contribution
worldwide. Its members include Chairmen,
Presidents and CEOs of the world's leading travel and
tourism companies across hotels, airlines, airports,
cruise lines, tour operators, technology platforms and
destinations, spanning every major region globally.
Ahead of the event, the Malta Tourism Authority has
been appointed a Destination Partner of the Council,
a move that strengthens the country's standing with
the global travel and tourism industry as it prepares to
host a gathering of this scale.
It is the Minister for Tourism, Jo Etienne Abela,
who framed the significance of the moment most
clearly. Malta's partnership with the WTTC, he said,
comes at an important juncture for the tourism
sector and for the country as a whole, as it prepares
to welcome this Global Summit.
He described the
Destination Partnership as a way of strengthening
Malta's engagement with leading voices in the
industry, offering a platform to share the island's
own experience while also learning from international
partners and identifying fresh opportunities for
sustainable growth.
The Minister was equally clear about what should not
change. Malta, he said, should remain a destination
defined by quality, authenticity and memorable
experiences, one where tourism continues to generate
value for the economy, for communities and for future
generations.
Hosting the Global Summit, he added, is
recognition of Malta's growing role on the international
tourism stage, and an opportunity to present the very
best of the Maltese Islands alongside the country's
vision for where the industry goes next
