On July 22, Granaries Square in Floriana
will become one of the loudest, most
festive places in the Mediterranean as
singer Katy Perry is set to headline Isle
of MTV Malta 2026.
The event will bring
one of modern pop’s most recognisable icons to Europe’s
biggest free summer festival. This will be both Kate Perry’s
first performance in Malta and her first appearance at Isle
of MTV.
For those of you who happen to be in Malta this July,
this is the kind of event that can turn a regular summer
getaway into a story for the books. Most tourists treat the
event, which attracts thousands of locals and visitors, as
the crowning moment of their stay.
Expect to see fans
in full on party mode, congregating as early as 2pm in
the hope of snagging a spot by the stage. By nightfall,
the island’s holiday rhythm gives way to a full scale pop
concert in one of its most iconic public spaces.
Isle of MTV has built its popularity on that mix of access,
scale and setting. The concert is free, the crowd is
international, and the backdrop is unmistakably Maltese.
The square, with its open expanse and the majestic, lit
up church in the backdrop, give the festival a setting that
feels very different from the standard arena stop. It’s
only on a Mediterranean island that that pop, history and
religion could ever mix so freely.
The star headliner needs little introduction. Since her 2008
breakthrough with One of the Boys, she has become one
of the best selling artists of her generation, with more
than 115 billion streams and over 70 million albums sold
worldwide. Firework, Roar,
Dark Horse and California
Gurls are not merely radio hits but have become regular
anthems. The singer will be joined by a ream of other big
international names, performing alongside local artists.
Held in partnership with the Malta Tourism Authority, Isle
of MTV reflects Malta’s growing pull as a destination for
world renowned artists and major international events,
showing how the island’s cultural calendar now works as
part of the visitor experience.
