It’s that time of year again! The Definitive(ly) Good Guide’s annual survey is now open for voting during September.
Each year, the guide conducts a survey among diners to rate restaurants on three key aspects: food, service, and ambience. This survey is highly anticipated within the horeca industry, as it provides valuable insights into the dining preferences and experiences of patrons.
Since its inception 24 years ago, the Good Guide's primary objective has been to elevate the dining experience for customers by motivating restaurants to aim for a spot in the Top 150 Restaurants, which are featured for free in the guide and win the prestigious awards.
Typically, the survey receives around 4,000 entries documenting over 300,000 dining experiences. To maintain the integrity of the process and ensure fairness, the collected data is sent to an independent company for thorough analysis and filtering.
This careful scrutiny helps to minimise any potential instances of cheating or discrepancies. The results, highlighting the top 150 restaurants and winners of various award categories, will be revealed at the annual Awards Ceremony.
On the same evening, the latest published edition of the guide will be presented to attending guests and diners, and the new listings will be available on the website. Being featured in the Definitive(ly) Good Guide is a mark of distinction, affirming a restaurant’s commitment to delivering high-quality food and exceptional service. The guide’s team takes immense pride in its authenticity and the fairness of its evaluation process.
What sets the Definitive(ly) Good Guide apart? It is entirely based on the votes of diners! Participating in the voting process is straightforward. Diners can select restaurants from a drop-down menu or opt for ‘other not listed’ and rate any restaurant in Malta and Gozo.
Additionally, diners are encouraged to vote for their favourite restaurants in various categories, such as Best Value for Money, Most Romantic Meal, and Best for Business Entertainment. This comprehensive feedback from diners is what makes the guide a trusted and respected resource in the dining community.
To encourage participation, diners who cast their votes have the chance to win some incredible prizes, thanks to generous contributions from various sponsors. Prizes include an exclusive two-night stay at Iniala Harbour House with bed and breakfast, a luxurious two-night getaway at DoubleTree by Hilton Malta, a one-night stay at Phoenicia Malta including breakfast, hampers valued at €150 each from J Calleja Ltd (representatives of Rummo Pasta in Malta), a €300 hamper from Dical House, a two-pack of Riedel Veloce Cabernet/Merlot glasses, and 10 copies of the Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants in Malta & Gozo 2025 edition to runners up.
