Founded by the late Joseph M. Cuschieri, Continental Purchasing Ltd has undergone a remarkable evolution since its inception. Initially a major importer of textiles and women's/children's outerwear, confectionery, and mineral water, the company underwent a strategic shift in 1964 under the leadership of Mr Alfred Cuschieri. Recognising the potential in the hospitality sector, the company diversified into the importation of hospitality and catering products. Today, Continental Purchasing Ltd, affectionately known as C.P.C., stands as a key player in the industry, representing leading brands such as Villeroy and Boch, WMF, Schott Zwiesel, and others, contributing significantly to its growth in a challenging market.
In a conversation with Mr Ciantar, we explored how Continental Purchasing Ltd stays ahead of industry trends to meet the evolving needs of clients. Mr Ciantar emphasized the need for adaptability and a keen eye on technological advancements. "Challenges have to be opportunities," he noted, reflecting the company's commitment to continuous improvement and innovative solutions.
“This market is always evolving and technologies are always improving, we at Continental Purchasing have to always stay alert to change, challenges have to be opportunities to improve our day to day operation and also offer new ideas to our customers.”
Addressing global concerns about sustainability, Mr Ciantar highlighted the importance of cost control and responsible procurement. Purchasing the right products and embracing eco-friendly systems are crucial steps in ensuring a sustainable business model. The company actively promotes the adoption of eco-friendly practices within the hospitality sector in Malta, encouraging businesses to invest in greener technology and products for long-term benefits.
