HORECA Magazine has announced the appointment of a new editor and a
strengthened editorial leadership team as it continues to grow its presence in the
sector.
Stephen Gauci has been appointed Chief Editor. He will be supported by a dynamic
team including Ramona Depares, former editor, who now assumes the role of Director
of Content & Creative; Joe Galea as HORECA Meets Editor; Josef Bonello as Bevz
Section Editor; and Tonio Schembri, who will oversee Sales & Operations.
Commenting on these appointments, Ryan Galea, Publisher and Founder of the
magazine, said: “It is an honour to welcome such a strong team of dedicated
professionals. These appointments reflect our continued commitment to serving as a
leading voice for the hospitality industry in Malta.
The magazine has grown from
strength to strength, and we are now well positioned to further enhance our content
offering and expand our reach within the sector.

that in her new role, she will continue to make a strong impact through her journalistic
expertise and her contributions to HORECA.
At the same time, I welcome Stephen as
Chief Editor. Stephen has been contributing to HORECA since 2024, and he has what it
takes to be an outstanding editor.”
Commenting on his appointment, Stephen added: “It is both an honour and a privilege

Over the years, I have seen the
publication evolve into an authoritative source for hospitality professionals.
The
industry is thriving, and I am excited to lead the magazine at such an important time. My
priority will be to build on the strong foundations laid by Ramona and previous editors,
ensuring the publication continues to grow, innovate, and deliver valued content to its
readers.”
Stephen Gauci is a seasoned marketing and communications professional with over 30
years of experience in aviation and tourism. During his tenure as Head of Corporate
Communications at Air Malta, he oversaw the publication of, and contributed to, several
in-flight magazines, including Malta This Month, Skylife, and Il-Bizzilla.
He holds a
Bachelors (Hons.) in Communications and an M.A. in Integrated Marketing
Communications, both from the University of Malta.
