Q: What do you find most fulfilling about working in the wine industry?
A: For me, it’s building genuine relationships with clients and producers. Wine has a remarkable way of connecting people through history, tradition, and shared enjoyment, and being part of that is truly rewarding.

At Kontrada, we have curated a portfolio of wines and fine foods from small, family-run estates, each with its own story and craftsmanship and authenticity.

Teaching has also become deeply fulfilling. Whether it’s the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) courses or private sessions, it’s always rewarding to share wine knowledge with passionate consumers.

Q: What guiding principle shapes your professional journey?
A: “Whatever you do, do it well.” It’s simple advice, but a constant reminder to take pride in my work and keep improving.

Also, having clear goals and working steadily toward them has been essential in achieving meaningful results.

Although life can be unpredictable, having a plan of how to achieve goals is important to efficiently and successfully get there.

Q: Where do you find time to disconnect and recharge?
A: At home. With work and the frequent travel required for my Master of Wine studies, there’s nothing better than taking time to relax and recharge in my own space.

If not home, somewhere mountainous with cooler temperatures and abundance of fresh air and open spaces – ideally without any mobile device and email connectivity.

Q: Beyond wine, what keeps you inspired?
A: I am an avid reader with wide-ranging interests across history, biographies, and fiction.

I have a particular love for Tolkien’s works, especially the lore of mythology behind his works. Tolkien’s worlds offer a welcome escape from my busy schedule.

I wouldn’t say reading inspires me in a specific way, but it definitely keeps my imagination alive.
