Q: Tell us about your educational background and your work experience to date.

I have been working since I was 15 years old. I started as a sales assistant where I sold electronic devices such as printers and fax machines. After two years I started working in the catering business – 27 years later and I’m still in this industry. During those years me and my husband wanted to do something more, something different. That is where the boutique hotel idea came to mind.

Q: Why are you so passionate about the boutique hotel industry?

Me and my husband took all the necessary measures to ensure that our dream boutique hotel would come to life. After 8 long years of ups and downs, it was finally ready to open. Saying I felt self-accomplished would be an understatement. I find passion in working with clients, hence why I still love working in the catering business. Having the guest house gives me the chance to meet and greet all kinds of people from around the world. but still I believe my passion is that of servicing clients in general.

Q: Mention five words to describe yourself and your work ethic.

Dedicated | Disciplined | Motivated | Professional | Goal-oriented

Q: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

As mentioned, I cannot imagine myself doing anything different- as work is a big part of my life. Goals are always a good thing to have, but now that I have worked and achieved what I wished for, my children are my priority. My primary goal has always been to watch them grow and succeed. This is why me and my husband work and try to achieve the best, because at the end of the day, my true goal is to to leave a legacy for my family.

Q: Tell us one of the most rewarding experiences in your profession to date.

The most rewarding experience in my career is when clients express their gratitude or leave their kind reviews of their experiences in our boutique hotel. Including the ones that had some negative feedback, as those are the ones that push me to more excellence.

Q: What growth do you anticipate for the hospitality and catering industry in the next 20 years?

I believe that hospitality is a big part of Maltese people in general; it’s how I found my passion and how I was raised- always seeing my family being kind to others, including strangers. Catering has a big impact on hospitality and tourism in general, therefore I believe it will still remain a strong industry.
