Q: You’ve been with The Westin Dragonara Resort for
nearly 20 years. How has this journey shaped your
leadership philosophy and approach in your current role?
A: Spending nearly two decades at The Westin Dragonara
Resort has been both professionally and personally
enriching. Growing with the property through different
roles, market cycles and industry shifts has taught me
the importance of perspective, resilience and people.
My leadership approach today is centred on trust; in the
team, in experience and in making balanced decisions that
support both commercial success and long-term brand
integrity.

Q: What are the biggest challenges you face in this
post, and how are you adapting to ensure The Westin
Dragonara Resort continues to deliver its renowned high
standards?
A: One of the biggest challenges is remaining commercially
agile in an increasingly competitive environment while
protecting brand value. Demand patterns are changing
rapidly, booking windows are shorter and distribution
channels are more complex. We are responding by refining
market segmentation, investing in data-driven decision
making and strengthening our storytelling to ensure our
strategies remain flexible, targeted and aligned with the
resort’s long-term positioning.

Q: The luxury traveller’s expectations are constantly
evolving. How have you seen this profile change in
recent years, and how is your sales and marketing
strategy adapting to meet these shifting demands?
A: Luxury today is far more personal and experiencedriven. Guests are increasingly seeking wellness, authenticity, space and tailored experiences. Our strategy has evolved accordingly, with greater emphasis on meaningful engagement, emotional connection and curated guest journeys. We aim to position the resort not simply as a destination, but as a place where guests can disconnect, recharge and feel restored.

Q: With MICE, leisure and long-haul markets all
contributing to Malta’s tourism mix, which segments
are currently driving the strongest performance for
the resort, and where do you see the greatest growth
potential?
A: Leisure travel remains a strong and consistent
driver, supported by Malta’s year-round appeal and a
loyal repeat clientele. MICE business also continues to
perform well, particularly during the shoulder seasons.
Looking ahead, we see significant potential in premium
leisure travel, where guests are seeking exclusivity and
personalised experiences, as well as in long-haul markets
such as the US, where Malta is increasingly recognised as
a distinctive Mediterranean destination.
