Q: How do you translate a global brand promise into something that feels genuinely local and relevant to today’s guests?
A: A global brand provides the compass; as operators, we chart the course to exceptional experiences. Hyatt Regency gives us clarity about who our guests are, what they seek, and the standards we must uphold. Our role is to express that through Malta’s character; its warmth, cuisine, and Mediterranean lifestyle. When guests feel the island in the experience, while still recognising the Hyatt Regency promise, that’s when we have truly succeeded.

Q: What are the biggest operational challenges you’re navigating right now, and how are you adapting without compromising quality?
A: Like everyone in hospitality, we are navigating labour pressures, rising costs, and increasingly sophisticated guest expectations. It would be easy to respond by scaling back, but that is not our philosophy. Instead, we focus on clarity of strategy, disciplined execution, and shared ownership within the team. We continuously audit our performance, invest in training, refine processes, and hold ourselves accountable. Delivering an exceptional guest experience remains non-negotiable.

Q: How do you keep teams motivated and growing in such a demanding environment?
A: For me, motivation begins with clarity and respect. People want to understand where the organisation is heading and how they contribute to that journey. We set clear objectives, link recognition to genuine guest feedback, and invest in professional development at every level. Leadership must also be visible and accessible. When colleagues feel heard, valued, and supported, they do not just work in hospitality, they build meaningful, long-term careers.

Q: How do you see luxury and business hospitality in Malta evolving?
A: Premium travel in Malta is entering a more mature phase, defined by substance rather than spectacle. Luxury today is thoughtful design, emotionally intelligent service, and experiences that feel effortless. Business travel is becoming increasingly blended, where productivity and wellbeing coexist. Hotels like Hyatt Regency Malta have a responsibility to lead this evolution by combining global expertise with Malta’s identity and setting the benchmark for modern Mediterranean hospitality in the years ahead.
